Managing Anxiety: a six-week skills group

Structured CBT skills for adults living with anxiety, panic or persistent worry — learned alongside other people doing the same work.

Six weekly two-hour sessions teaching the core skills of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for anxiety.

Groups work well for anxiety for a reason that is easy to miss: much of anxiety is the belief that you are the only one like this. That belief does not survive a room of people describing the same 3am thoughts.

Each week covers

  1. How anxiety works, and why avoidance feeds it
  2. Recognising and testing anxious thinking
  3. Physical tools — breathing, grounding, and what actually helps in a panic
  4. Facing avoided situations, in graded steps
  5. Worry, rumination and getting out of your own head
  6. Keeping the gains and planning for setbacks

Capped at 10 participants. A brief individual screening appointment is required.

Would one-to-one suit better?

Groups are not right for everyone, and some difficulties are better addressed individually. Reception can talk it through.
