Individual therapy
One-to-one psychological therapy for anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, stress and the times life stops making sense.
Psychological assessment and therapy for children, teenagers, adults, couples and families across the Territory.
Deciding to talk to someone is usually harder than anything that follows.
Darwin Psychology Services provides psychological assessment and therapy to children, teenagers, adults, couples and families across the Northern Territory. Our team of 12 clinicians works from two clinics — Durack and Winnellie — and by secure telehealth to people in remote communities, on stations and interstate.
We are a general practice in the best sense: broad enough to be your first phone call, specialised enough that you rarely need to be sent anywhere else.
Three things worth knowing before you call:
Assessment, therapy and group programs grounded in evidence — and explained in plain language before you begin.
One-to-one psychological therapy for anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, stress and the times life stops making sense.
Comprehensive cognitive, educational, behavioural and diagnostic assessment, with a report you can actually use.
Help for children and teenagers who are anxious, angry, withdrawn or struggling at school — and coaching for the adults around them.
Specialist treatment for single-incident and complex trauma, including EMDR delivered by accredited practitioners.
Confidential counselling, manager support, critical incident response and training for Territory workplaces.
Every psychologist here practises from a recognised evidence base. We also accept that a treatment developed in a southern university clinic sometimes needs adapting for a family in Palmerston — and we adapt it openly.
Clinical psychologists, generalists, registrars and a counsellor — most of whom have lived in the Territory long enough to know why that matters.
Thirty-eight years of Territory practice, and the person who built this one.
Broad assessment experience across the lifespan, and a calm room to sit in.
Couples, families and individuals — often all three in the same family.
Complex trauma specialist and Full Member of the EMDR Association of Australia.
Your people can see a psychologist face to face in Darwin or Palmerston. Our clinicians understand shift rosters, FIFO, remote postings and the transience of the Territory workforce. When there is a critical incident, we can be at your workplace the same day.
If your employer has an agreement with us, call 08 8932 8460, say you are calling under your workplace EAP, and give your employer's name.
That is the whole process. Your employer is not notified that you called, and never finds out what you discussed.
Our Durack rooms are in the Woodlake Boulevard professional suites, a short drive from Palmerston city centre and easily reached from the Stuart Highway.
The Terminal One Building sits on the Stuart Highway at Winnellie. Our entrance is next to Dementia Australia; take the stairs or lift to the first floor and follow the signs to Unit 12.
Practical, evidence-based material written by our clinicians — and the groups and workshops we are running now.
We are not a crisis service and our clinics close at 5pm. These services are available 24 hours.
The instinct to remove whatever is making your child anxious is a good instinct that makes anxiety worse. Here is what to do instead.
What a Mental Health Treatment Plan is, how many sessions it covers, and what you will actually pay out of pocket.
Structured CBT skills for adults living with anxiety, panic or persistent worry — learned alongside other people doing the same work.
A five-week evidence-based parenting program for parents of children aged 2 to 12. Small groups, practical strategies, no lectures.
Request an appointment and our reception team will call you back within one business day — or simply pick up the phone. There is no obligation to book anything.
