Why a Territory-based EAP
Most Employee Assistance Programs sold into the Territory are run from a call centre in another state. An employee rings a 1800 number, waits, and is offered a video session with a counsellor who has never worked a wet season or driven to a remote site.
Ours is different in the ways that matter: your people can see a psychologist face to face in Darwin or Palmerston, our clinicians understand shift rosters, FIFO, remote postings and the transience of the Territory workforce, and when there is a critical incident we can be at your workplace the same day.
What your people get
Short-term, confidential counselling. Typically three to six sessions per person per year, at no cost to the employee, for any issue — work-related or personal. Most people use it for things that have nothing to do with work: relationships, family, grief, money stress, alcohol, sleep.
A choice of appointment type. In person at Durack or Winnellie, by secure video, or by telephone.
Fast access. We aim to offer a first appointment within five business days, and same-week for urgent matters.
Real confidentiality. No one at your workplace is told who has used the service or what they discussed. Employers receive de-identified usage data only.
What managers and employers get
Manager support consultations. A confidential call with a psychologist when you have a staff member you are worried about and do not know how to approach it. This is one of the most used and least advertised parts of an EAP.
Critical incident response. After a death, serious injury, armed hold-up, natural disaster or other traumatic event, we can attend your workplace to provide structured support to affected staff. Available across the Darwin and Palmerston region, and by arrangement to remote sites.
Quarterly reporting. De-identified data on usage rates, broad presenting themes and trends — enough to inform your wellbeing planning, never enough to identify anyone.
Workplace training. Mental Health First Aid (accredited), managing psychosocial hazards, having difficult conversations, resilience and burnout, and R U OK? Day sessions that go beyond a morning tea.
Support for psychosocial hazard obligations. Territory employers now have explicit duties to manage psychosocial risk. Our organisational psychologist can help you identify hazards, review your controls, and evidence what you have done.
How it works
- An agreement. We set up a simple service agreement — either a fixed number of sessions per year or a per-use arrangement. There is no joining fee.
- Promotion. We provide posters, wallet cards, intranet copy and an induction slide so your people know the service exists. An unused EAP is money wasted.
- Access. Your employee calls our reception directly and identifies their employer. They do not need permission or a referral, and they do not tell anyone at work.
- Reporting. You receive a de-identified quarterly summary.
